Sauteed Dates with greek yoghurt

Dates are one of my favorite foods. Sweet, dense and incredibly versatile. For years I’ve been eating them stuffed with either butter or almond butter an da pinch of salt, and it’s a delicious treat.

Dates also make a beautiful bedtime drink to support a good nights sleep; simply warm up a cup of raw milk with a pinch of cardamom and 1-2 chopped dates. Expecting mothers are often recommended to eat dates as they get closer to the birthing portal - an old wives trick to help with labour through helping with softening of the cervix.

In Ayurveda dates are said to increase ojas in the body, and are generally recommended after a cleanse or to rebuild a depleted body. Due to their Ojas building quality, they can support a healthy libido in both men and women.
Nutritionally, dates are packed with fiber, antioxidants, selenium and magnesium, to mention a few.

Last year I discovered sautéed dates, and it’s quickly become my favorite way to enjoy them. Here’s how to make them:

Sauteed Dates with greek yoghurt

Remove the pit from your dates (medjool dates are my favorite, and 2 dates are usually a good number for me). Place the dates face down in a pan sizzling with melted butter or olive oil and a pinch of salt.

Sauté on each side until golden and almost burnt.

Serve with a generous spoonful of greek yoghurt, or with ice cream for the a heavenly dessert. Also delicious paired with Parmesan or Gruyère cheese, or enjoy simply enjoy on their own.
